Hello,
My wife and I are looking at relocating to relocate our family for a few reasons. We want to be somewhere warmer and would like to give our kids perspective on life outside the Midwest.
That being said we are evaluating a few different areas in the southeast. We like the Beaufort area and have vacationed there in the past. Our biggest concern at this point is school system.
Are the schools in the Beaufort area decent? Is there a specific district we should look to be in?
Thanks in advance.
Hi there!
It’s great to hear that you’re considering Beaufort for your relocation! The area is beautiful and offers a great quality of life, especially if you enjoy coastal living and mild weather. As for schools, Beaufort County has a mix of public and private options, and the quality can vary depending on the specific district and school.
The Beaufort County School District, which covers most of the area, has some schools that are highly rated, but others may not be as strong. Some of the top-performing schools in the area are in the Beaufort High School zone, which includes schools like the Lowcountry Early College High School, a well-regarded school for students interested in earning college credits while still in high school. Hilton Head Island, which is part of the district, also has some highly-rated schools, so if you’re open to living near there, that might be an option to consider as well.
It’s also worth looking into private school options if that’s something you’re interested in. Beaufort Academy is a private K-12 school that gets positive reviews.
In general, it’s always a good idea to visit the schools in person and talk to local parents to get a sense of the environment and academic offerings. If you’re planning to be in Beaufort proper, check out schools in the city limits, but if you don’t mind a short commute, you could also explore options on Hilton Head Island or Bluffton.
Good luck with your decision, and feel free to reach out if you have more questions!
